The Red Cross supports new and existing instructors through a variety of opportunities.
First Aid & CPR Instructors support the Red Cross First Aid Program through the delivery of our First Aid and CPR courses. Candidates enter our comprehensive Instructor Development Program, designed to prepare them to support dynamic, learner-centred classroom environments.
Designed for candidates who wish to deliver Canadian Red Cross Professional Responder courses, including Basic Life Support (BLS), First Responder (FR), Advanced First Aid (AFA), Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Oxygen Therapy (OT), Marine Advanced First Aid (MAFA) and Airway Management (AM). Course content focuses on instructional techniques, including designing and supporting scenarios, organizing courses, and how to support dynamic, learner-centred classroom environments.
Instructor re-certification is required every 3 years through an approved regional instructor trainer. This ensures a consistent standard in the competence and ability of every instructor with the Red Cross, and provides an opportunity to bring current instructors up to date on new policies, procedures and training material. If you are a current Red Cross instructor in need of re-certification, contact our Instructor Trainer, Steve Vibert.
